The Jamestown Jets may not have taken home the title but certainly took home its fair share of league hardware at the post season awards as voted by the league coaches. For the second straight year a Jets player was voted the MVP this years winner is forward #4 Nate Hughes. Hughes in 48 games recorded 33 goals and assisted on 25 others for a total of 58 points and follows Tyler Underhill as the MVP. "I'm so proud of Hughesy...he's a talented guy with hands who's not afraid to play physical which is a combination coaches love to have and he was well liked by the guys. He missed several games due to an injury and he was noticeably missing in our line-up. This guy has NAHL written all over him and is exactly what our program is based this award is well deserved our organization is proud of him." said Jets Coach Dennis Canfield. Also taking an award home for Sportsman of the Year is Jets Defensemen David Moore. Moore (35 games: 17 goals, 37 assts totaling 51 pts) who joined the Jets from Team Illinois this past season really matured as the season when on and became the staple of the defense core. Arguably the best defensemen in the league in November he was called up to the Tier II Trenton Golden Hawks of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Known for his skating and puck moving ability Moore not only was a fan favorite but a character guy on the ice and in the room and was respected by other coaches and players. "This award is special because every coach wants their guys to win this type of award. It speaks volumes of this young mans character which is the first thing colleges want to know. Dave has several tier II offers for next season where ever he goes he will be a great addition to the room and the team on the ice we wish him all the luck as he continues his career he will be missed." Said Canfield. Stay tuned for more information as the Jets will be announcing tryouts shortly.
