(Jamestown, NY )  The Troy Bruins completed the sweep of the Jamestown Jets with a 9-4 victory at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena. The Jets fell behind early and were never able to rebound despite a late rally that fell short. Daniel Dennitton scored twice in the loss and Dan Igielinski and Jon Andhor scored the other Jamestown goals.

It was the Troy Bruins that started the scoring early for the second consecutive night. The Jets had trouble clearing their own zone and Egor Pogodin-Alekseev fired a wrist shot that beat Rick Hennard just 1:55 into the game.

The Bruins caught huge break just minutes later when Nate Hughes was given a five minute major and a game misconduct for a hit on Emanuel Abarcca at the Jamestown blueline. Abarcca lay on the ground for several minutes before skating to the Bruins bench and returning to action later in the period. The misconduct forced the Jets to play the rest of the way without their two top goal scorers because Jon Gratton was assessed a game misconduct for conduct near the end of the Jets loss on Friday night.

The Bruins power play took advantage of the long power play and Pogodin-Alekseev scored his second of the game through the legs of Hennard. The Jets penalty trouble continued and the Bruins converted another power play with Dan Kuenzi in the box. The Bruins scored once more late in the period to extend their lead to 4-0 after one period of play.

The second period began just like the first period with the Troy Bruins scoring twice more to take a commanding 6-0 lead less than 24 minutes into the game. The Bruins finally made a mistake when they gave the Jets a two man advantage just minutes later. Bruins goalie Alan Dowler was given a two minute minor for interference and the Bruins bench was called for delay of game for not sending a player to serve the minor.

The Jets finally got on the board with a power play goal by Dan Igielinski on a pretty feed from David Moore. The Jets had another full two man advantage later in the period when Lee McClure was called for a minor and Abarcca was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The Bruins killed off the penalty and any immediate threat from the Jets.

The Jets seemed to gain some momentum from their power play opportunities and Andhor scored his first of the playoffs on a shot that beat Dowler on the glove side just under the crossbar.

The Jets cut the Troy lead in half early in the third period when Daniel Dennitton deflected a pass from Iglienski over the shoulder of Dowler. The Jets weren’t able to get any closer as the Bruins scored three consecutive goals to put the game away.

The Jets finished the season in third place in the Northern Junior Hockey League with a record of 22-24-3. The Jets would like to thank their fans for a wonderful season and we hope to see you back next year.
