Jamestown, NY. The Jamestown Jets will close out their 2009-2010 regular season schedule this Friday and Saturday evening at 7:35 PM against rivals the Wooster Oilers. It’s fan appreciation weekend. To thank our great fans there will be $1 draft beers and $1 hot dogs along with many special prizes and events. The NJHL Playoffs open next weekend and the Jets could use your support as they push for a Northern Junior Hockey League title. “The Jamestown area and surrounding communities have been wonderful to our organization and our players over the past two years…this is our tribute to them for all their support. We have something for everyone. Last year we drew over 1,000 fans a night for this weekend, so we’re very excited.” said Jets Director of Hockey Operations, Dennis Canfield. The highlight of the weekend will be on Friday as the Jets honor two area high school teams that competed in last weekends NYS High School Hockey Championships. First, the Jamestown Red Raiders who won the NYS Large School State Championship as well as Southwestern Maple Grove whom lost in the Small School Finals in triple over time. There will be a pre game ceremony to honor both teams prior to the Jets and Oilers opening face-off with Jets Coach Dennis Canfield and Master of Ceremonies for the evening Mike Ferguson. Players from each team will wear their respective teams jersey’s and skate out onto the ice one last time in fitting fashion. “Many of these young men are Jets of tomorrow…their accomplishments this season are a testament to hard work and shows the great passion for the game of hockey in our region.  The community should be proud of them. The Jets are honored to pay tribute to these players and encourage the community to join us on this very special night.” said Canfield. There will be prizes, chuck-a-puck, 50/50 drawing and several items will be auctioned off along with a St. Patrick’s Day theme and immediately following each game, fans will get to meet their favorite Jets in the lobby for an autograph session. Don’t miss out!!! Come out and watch the hardest working team in hockey as they do battle with the Wooster Oilers this Friday and Saturday night @ 7:35 PM. There’s something for the whole family!!! Tickets can be purchased at the box office by calling 484-2624 or see us on the web at www.jamestownjets.com Jamestown Jets Hockey “ Your Town…Your Arena…Your Team”.
