Travel and border concerns forced the Northern Junior Hockey League to alter their schedule for this weekend. The Jamestown Jets will now travel to Quebec instead of playing at home this weekned.
(Jamestown, NY ) The Northern Junior Hockey League announced changes to the schedule for the scheduled games this weekend. Due to travel and border concerns the Jamestown Jets were forced to cancel their home dates with the Troy Bruins and will now travel to Quebec to take on Team Ulysse on Thursday and Friday.
The Jets will be well rested after having last weekend off to recover from a difficult schedule in previous weeks. The Jets head into this weekend in third place in the Northern Junior Hockey League with a 19-21-1 record.
The Jets were responsible for one of Team Ulysse’s three losses and one of their two shootout losses but those games were played back in September. The Jets are 2-6-0 against Team Ulysse on the season and have lost five straight, including four losses in Quebec. The last meeting between the teams was a 6-3 victory for Team Ulysse at the College Showcase. Jamestown had the lead twice before Team Ulysse scored three second period goals on their way to the victory.
The Jets will be looking to their top players to provide enough offense to keep up with a difficult Team Ulysse squad. Jon Gratton is leading the way for Jamestown this season with 26 goals and 54 points, Dan Igielinski is not far behind with 53 points and 18 goals and Nate Hughes is the team’s leading goal scorer with 31 goals on the season.
The games this weekend will not be broadcast but stay tuned to www.jamestownjets.com for updates on the weekends games.
