Jets Head North to Take on Team Ulysse

2009-12-17

The Jamestown Jets will head north of the border for the second time this season. They hope the results will be different from their trip a month ago.

(Jamestown, NY)       The Jamestown Jets went to Canada in November as a young team that was trying to find their way. They head to Quebec again this weekend with a much different attitude. They are a confident team after beating the first place Wooster Oilers a couple of weeks ago and they split a series with the second place Troy Bruins last weekend.

Jamestown has two wins in five games against Team Ulysse this season but both wins came at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena. They were completely dominated the last trip to Quebec with a 9-1 loss in the first game and an 8-3 loss in the second game. “I expect this trip to be different; we are playing our best hockey of the season” Jets Coach Dennis Canfield said.

The Jets have been a much better team since their last trip to Quebec. They are 4-1-1 in their last six games and they have been using a balanced attack. Last weekend Jon Gratton scored two goals on Saturday night and Ryan Cunningham followed that up with two goals on Sunday.

The return of David Moore from the Trenton Devils has been equally as important. Moore brings experience to the Jets blueline and contributes at both ends of the ice. Moore had six assists last weekend with three assists in each game against Troy.

Team Ulysse did not play against a Northern Junior Hockey League opponent last weekend. They won all three games they played but their last NJHL game was a shootout loss to the Wooster Oilers. They have an 8-2-2 record in the NJHL with a loss and a shootout loss to the Jets.

The Jets will be off next week so the players can spend the Christmas holiday with their families. They return home on New Year’s Eve to take on the Findlay Grrrowl. More information will be available at www.jamestownjets.com in the next week.
