Jets Continue Homestand with Adirondack Coming to Town2009-09-24
After completing a successful weekend winning two out of three against a tough Team Ulysee, the Jamestown Jets will conclude their seven-game home stand against the Adirondack Predators.
Jamestown received a huge boost last weekend with the return off their all-time leading scorer Joe Coyne, forward Dan Igielinski and defenseman Goshi Kumagai. Coyne had six goals and two assists, Igielinski added a goal and three assists and Kumagai chiped in two assists. Igielinski also had the shootout winner in the series finale.
The Jets find themselves in a three-way tie for first place in the NJHL heading into this weekend. They will face an Adirondack team that rebounded from a 14-0 loss in their opening game with five points in their last three games. Adirondack completed a sweep last weekend in Philadelphia against the Thunder.
The Jets werea high powered ofense last season but this season they boast a more complete team. They can still pile up offensive statistics as is evident by their 10 goals in their comeback win last Friday night but tey pride themselves on good goaltending and overall team defense.
Lorne Shotwell is 2-0 on the season and has a 3.00 GAA to go along with his .929 save percentage. He stopped 51 of 55 shots last Sunday in a 5-4 shootout win. Ethan Adamczyk has also bben good making some key saves in the Jets 10-7 comeback last Friday.
Special teams figure to be a key in this series. The Jets are in the bottom half of the league in both penalty killing and power play. Jamestown has killed 21-of-26 power plays for 80.8%. The Jets power play has struggled as well, they are hoping to get their power play going this weekend as they find themselves fifth in the league converting only 3-of-23 chances this season.
The Jets added some fire power to their lineup but will play this weekend without the services of Alex Stahl who suffered a wrist injury last weekend against Team Ulysee.
The Jets and Predators will face off at 7:35 PM on both Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available by visiting the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena Box Office and will be availabel the day of the game.
