Jets Suffer 6-2 Loss Against Team Ulysee

2009-09-19

The Jamestown Jets jumped on top quickly but Team Ulysee took control and handed the Jamestown Jets a 6-2 loss on home ice.

Team Ulysee looked a lot like the team that played two periods on Friday night.  They skated well, had crisp passes, made all their checks and outplayed the Jamestown Jets to win 6-2.  The Jets played a decent game for two periods but Team Ulysee was determined to avenge their third period collapse from Friday night.

It looked good for Jamestown early in the game. It was only 31 seconds into the game when Jon Andhor raced up the boards to get a loose puck and fired a wrist shot by Team Ulysee goalie Anthony Labelle.

The Jets held that lead until under five minutes left in the first.  Team Ulysee scored three times in the final five minutes of the period to take a 3-1 lead into the locker room.

The second period was not without chances for both sides but the only shot that found the back of the net came off the stick of Team Ulysee Nicolas Provost.  Team Ulysee had a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.

Joe Coyne tried his best to duplicate the Jets performance from Friday night when he scored just 3:06 into the third period.  The Jets pulled the score withing 4-2 on the Coyne goal but they would get no closer.  The tensions ran high in the final seven minutes and there was no chance for Jamestown to mount a comeback in this one.

The Jets and Team Ulysee will play the rubber match of their three game series on Sunday at 1:35 PM.  Tickets are still available at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena box office.
