Jamestown Jets Look to Rebound Versus Team Ulysee

2009-09-16

The Jamestown Jets will welcome Team Ulysee to town for three games this weekend. The Jets are expecting Joe Coyne and Dan Igielinski to be in the lineup against Team Ulysee.

(Jamestown, NY)  -     After splitting a pair of games against the Findlay Grrrowl last weekend, Head Coach Dennis Canfield felt he needed more fire power.  He turned to a couple of familiar faces to help provide the necessary boost.  When the Jets take the ice against Team Ulysee this weekend, Joe Coyne and Dan Igielinski will be wearing a Jets uniform.

Coyne and Igielinski were both key parts of the Jets team that were regular season champions last season.  Coyne led the league in points with a record 135 points, including 52 goals.  “I felt we needed more offense and physical toughness and we all know what these guys bring to the table” Coach Canfield said.  Igielinski brought a physical presence to the lineup with 101 penalty minutes and he added 20 goals along the way.

This will be the first time that Team Ulysee will visit the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena although Jamestown played their last season.  The Jets came away from that game with a 9-5 loss in front of a raucous crowd.  The Jets may have been a little surprised by the physical play last season, this time they know what to expect.  “I think we may have been caught off guard last year.  This season we know they will play a physical game and we will be better prepared” Canfield said.

If the Jets are going to have any chance to compete with Team Ulysee they will need to be better on the power play.  The Jets were 0-for-4 last weekend on the power play and never really managed much of an attack.  At one point the Jets had a two man advantage for over a minute and a half and managed only one shot on goal.  This is an area that needs to be improved for the Jets this weekend.

Nate Hughes and David Moore will be Jets players to keep an eye on this weekend.  Hughes scored goals in both games and led the Jets with 11 penalty minutes, including a fight o Friday night.  David Moore looked confident with the puck and scored the Jets first goal in the 3-2 loss on Saturday night.

The Jets and Team Ulysee will play three games this weekend.  Face-off on Friday and Saturday night will be at the usual 7:35 PM.  Sunday face-off will be at 1:35 PM.  Tickets for all three games this weekend are available by phone at 716-484-2624 or by e-mail at heather.ullman@jamestownarena.com.
