Jets Let One Slip Away in Loss to Findlay

2009-09-13

The Jamestown Jets allowed three third period goals in a 3-2 loss to the Findlay Grrrowl.

The Jamestown Jets had everything going for them.  Nate Hughes had scored his second goal of the season to give the Jets a 2-1 lead with 6:45 left in the game.  All they had to do was hold Findlay off the scoreboard for the rest of the game and they would have a 2-0 record after the first weekend of the season.

The Findlay Grrrowl had other ideas.  They scored twice in the last five minutes including the game winner with 24.6 seconds left on the clock.  Jets goalie Ethan Adamczyk made a save but the rebound was laying in the crease and Shanahan buried it for the visiting Grrrowl giving them the 3-2 victory.

David Moore scored the games first goal to put the Jets on top 1-0 past the halfway point in the game.  Moore read a pass up the wing and pinched in from the point to intercept the pass.  He fired a wrist shot just underneath the crossbar on the short side to beat Findlay goalie Cory Knupp.

Jets goalie Adamczyk had his sutout erased with 13:54 left in the game as Sutton tied the game for Findlay.  Nate Hughes gave the Jets the lead back on a wrist shot that beat Knupp from just inside the blue line.  It looked like a harmless play as Hughes skated in and took a long shot but it handcuffed Knupp and found the back of the net.

Adamczyk looked good in his Jamestown Jets debut but came out on the losing end.  He allowed three goals on 39 shots , making 36 saves for the Jets.  His performance was good enough to be the games third start despite the loss.  Nate Hughes scored his second goal in as many games for the Jets earning him the games second star.

The Jets will return to action next weekend as they welcome Team Ulysee to Jamestown for the first time.  Team Ulysee will travel all the way from Quebec, Canada to take on the Jets.  Jamestown traveled to Team Ulysee last season and came out on the losing end of a 9-5 decision.  Great tickets are still remaining for both Friday and Saturday night.  Face off is set for 7:35 PM.
